Additionally, since such a case would be written down of such person’s register, his/her social and professional life goes under danger.

Joint smokers mostly hide that they smoke from the people around them (e.g. family, friends, etc.).The joint smokers, however, are aware of other smokers. It is mostly smoked within friend groups.

In Turkish social structure, joint – smokers are considered as junkie, dry curd, larrikin drifters. Nevertheless, a considerable number of people smoke joint. There are celebrities who were caught while smoking.

The joint is obtained from the dealers in back streets. It is expensive in price (YTL 40-50 / Euro 25-30 per 12.5 grams). However, due to the strict police controls, the smoker does not have a lot of choices and is to get the hash provided by the dealer, no matter it is fine or not. On the other hand, those who know the right people can find really fine joint.

The joint, in Turkey, is often taken as weeds. The weed is blended with tobacco and is smoked after being rolled in cigarette sheet (ocb, rizla). Besides that, it is smoked by buckles, pipes and water–pipes. The Turkish have their own style of smoking joint. Taking marijuana (joint) as powder (qubar) is fairly common. Powder joint is pressed and then smoked as per the weeds. Paste “afghan” form is not preferred with the concern that various chemicals might have been mixed in.

As Steppenwolf's John Kay sang back in the day, "the dealer is the man with the love grass in his hand." Conversely, "the pusher is a monster. he ain't a natural man." Advocates for the medical marijuana community in this country want the public to know that they need a legal "dealer," so they don't have to cop their dope from "the pusher" - or, in extreme situations, become somewhat like them.

NOAM CHOMSKY

"Having a substance should not be considered a crime, because so far it's victimless. If you want to talk about distributing substances that are lethal, yeah, that oughta be brought up, but then, let's be serious. Tobacco is far ahead of anything else. Alcohol is second. Hard drugs are way down the bottom, and furthermore most drug use, though it's very harmful for the person, has very little social effect. The crime associated with hard drugs is mostly a consequence of criminalization. [Q: so should we go after the people who make cigarettes?] If the principle is, let's not get lethal substances out to the public, the first one you'd go after is tobacco, the next one you'd go after is alcohol, way down the list you'd get to cocaine, and sort of invisibly low you'd get to marijuana. [Q: a lot more violence comes from someone snorting some coke?] No, it doesn't. It comes from purchasing coke and selling coke, but that's because it's illegal. That's because of the criminalization of it, not the effect." ..>>
